Laboratory Test Engineer

For our client we are looking for a Laboratory Test Engineer to strengthen the project engineering team on automation and protection testing including real time simulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems, testing and real time simulations. The role focuses on designing and implementing automation, protection and secondary injection tests according to customer specifications. Ideally, the candidate has a vision on how to productize simulation and testing offering.

You will be mainly accountable for:
· Designing and implementing automation and protection testing including hardware-in-the-loop testing for power systems according to customer specifications
· Leading customer approvals and factory testing of distribution protection relays
· Maintaining the customer approval test laboratory in Vaasa
· Productizing the simulation and test offering

Qualifications For The Role:
· A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in electrical or electrical power system engineering or equivalent
· Several years of experience working with power systems and prior experience with electrical installations or a commissioning background
· Prior experience of leading customer approvals or FATs (Factory Acceptance Testing)
· Experience with real time simulators such as RTDS, Typhoon Hil or Opal RT and relay test devices and amplifiers such as Omicron
· Experience with PSCAD or a similar software is seen as a strong benefit
· Good communication and presentation skills, including fluency in English (written and spoken), Finnish and Swedish language skills are seen as benefits

• Do you have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field?
• Do you have at least 3 years of experience working with power systems, electrical installations, or commissioning activities?
• Have you previously led or participated in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) or customer approval testing for protection or automation systems?
• Do you have hands-on experience with real-time simulation tools such as RTDS, Typhoon HIL, or OPAL-RT?
• Do you have experience using relay testing equipment such as Omicron test sets or similar protection testing devices?
• Do you have experience with PSCAD or similar power system simulation software?
